gearbox

The gearbox has a lot of gears inside. As the name imply these gears can be thought of as wheels having various sizes and they have teeth on them which help in fitting together. If you were to rotate these gears, they would mesh with interlocking separate sets of gears that then drive your wheels at differing speeds depending on how the differential is setup. This means that your car can drive at highway speeds or come to a gentle stop when you need to slow down for a red light.

High Gear Ratio = Smaller Gears... When this happens, your wheel moves at a greater speed. Well that's perfect for when you really need to get somewhere in a hurry, such as on the motorway. However, if the gear is to have a low ratio then it will be larger in size for your car. Worse, this slows down your wheels. It is really helpful when you are driving up mountains or pulling a large trailer.

The Role of Gear Ratios in Your Car's Performance

Well really, whenever you buy a new gearbox for your car it is crucial that the one you pick out will fit appropriately with not onlythe make and model of vehiclethat want to modify but also howyou plan on using it. There are some other things you need to consider such as car size, the type of driving required most often or even introspecting ( at least not many extra items in this) what gear ratios would be best for your use.

For instance, say you own a large truck and need to tow heavy items such as a boat or oversized trailer - in that case we would choose for it box with specific low gear ratio. This enables you to do more work, or pull things with less trouble. However if you have a little tiny vehicle and simply use it for mid-town workings, then obviously the gear box with higher gearing would be much better. This is how your car can pick up speed quickly, in case you have to make our way through some busy city traffic.
